Spring 2025

Weather has been up and down since arriving in Canada the beginning of May. First it was cold then it got hot then it got very cold, windy and snowed then back to normal and now 2 days of heat and then back to cool again. They’re predicting a little rain this week so hopefully it hits us. I would like to get rid of the fire ban.

I’m sure U.S. customers have smelled and seen the smoke from all the fires in Canada. We have a few fires in NW Ontario but thankfully nothing too close. There has been days that I’d swear that the fire was really near us because of the smoke but quickly checked the fire map on line and breathed a sign of relief when nothing showed up close to us. One day there were two fire bomber planes loading up with water on the lake at our Raven Lake Resort to fight a fire that I think started near the train tracks. If you’ve never seen them come down and scoop up water it is a little scarey!

With the crazy weather our fishermen have still been catching fish. It was difficult at times with the high winds but they persisted and it paid off. Nobody has starved to death for lack of fish to eat, lol.

May was busier than usual but now that June has started things get nuts. If it stays fairly warm our fishermen will have to deal with the black flies and mosquitos that came from no where.
